Located in the northern most part of Hendricks County are the Northwest Hendricks Schools, comprised of Eel River, Middle, and Union townships and the incorporated towns of North Salem, Pittsboro and Lizton. The corporation has an enrollment of 1,429 students.

There are now 4 schools in the district: North Salem Elementary School, Pittsboro Elementary School, Tri-West Middle School and Tri-West High School. North Salem is a K-5 school and serves the students of North Salem, Eel River township, Lizton, and Union Township. Pittsboro Elementary is a K-5 school and serves the students of Pittsboro and Middle township. The whole school district is served by Tri-West Middle School with grades 6-8, and Tri-West High School in grades 9-12.
